| Our
founder, Henry Burke formed the Sewell Barn Theatre Company in 1979. Passionate
about theatre, he combined the talents and experience of established performers
with the enthusiasm of young actors.
Influential as a mentor in our theatrical
training, we aim to build on Henry's bold and innovative vision.
His artistic directorship, supported by
a wealth of directors and technicians, remains an inspiration for the
ambitious nature of this company.
This season we aim to continue our reputation
for excellence by presenting a varied, challenging and ambitious programme
of plays - from the epic that is Les Miserables to a
new piece of writing Company Along the Mile offered to
us by Tom Bidwell, a UEA graduate and Oscar nominee.
We urge you to share in our passion and support
a truly creative community theatre
Looking forward to meeting you!

& Lovers
The Sewell Barn Company presents
‘Sons & Lovers’ by D H Lawrence,
adapted and directed by Roger Parsley, at the
Sewell Barn Theatre, Constitution Hill, Norwich, NR3
4BX on 23rd - 25th February and 29th
February - 3rd March at 7.30 pm. Matinée
3rd March 2.30pm.
This stage adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's powerful semi-autobiographical
novel tells the emotionally charged
story of an artistic young man, Paul Morel, and his relationships with
his father, his controlling mother, Gertrude (who dreams of a golden future
for Paul which she will share) and two very different women who enter
his life. Can his mother let him go? Can his father
finally "understand" him?
An intriguing and moving piece of theatre.
