THE PLAY
'How do you want to live here? I mean we could come and go and lead separate lives. Or we could really live together. What do you think?'
This is a great play full of wit, humour and pathos with three great roles for female performers who need to be versatile enough to age throughout the play.
Heading off to university aged 18 in 1983 three incredibly different women join forces to live and experience life together. The play follows the trio through three decades and explores their friendship over those years and the various life events that impact on it. The play is both humorous and hard hitting as life is not straightforward for our trio or their relationship.
The play was first performed at Hampstead Theatre Downstairs in 2012 before transferring to the main stage in 2013 and then a West End run in 2015.
The edition of the play we will be using is published by Bloomsbury Methuen Drama -
CAST
Rose
Fun, bubbly and usually the impulsive instigator of “plans”. Rather promiscuous and not shy about it!
Viv
Intelligent, determined, works hard…and tries to keep the others in check, at least to start with. Can be quite abrupt.
Di
Sporty, rather shy underneath a veneer of confidence (and hasn’t come out to her mother), wants to find someone to love.
